Psalms 127:3
Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
Hi, Lovely Readers!
I hope you all had a wonderful summer. We had a busy summer full of adventures. I'll go over the fun things we did in a future blog post.
Today I wanted to recognize someone special to Aaron and me, which is our daughter Lily. She is our oldest of our four children. She was born August 31, 2013. Today she turns the TEN years old!
Happy birthday, Lily! Mommy and daddy love you so much!

It feels like yesterday we first found out we were going to have our first child. We were so excited to have a little girl in our arms. I was nervous to be a mom. It was going to be all new to me. I hoped & dreamed for this day. We were so ready for her to come. She surprised us and came early.
I had her via emergency cesarean last minute. I was in labor for a long time before we were told I had to get surgery. It was a huge disappointment, but I knew it was the best decision to make sure Lily and I were going to be ok. As soon as I heard her cry, I felt a sense of relief, and we both were so happy she was with us. It was an amazing experience that I won't forget. I hope to one day write a blog post about the day she was born. For now, I will focus on who Lily is and how she has grown up so fast! I still can't believe we have a 10 year old daughter.
I remember having her and thinking I need to document every week of her first year of life. So every week we would take photos of her, and she would pose for me as she got older. Then, I started taking monthly photos. I think around 2 and a half or 3 is when I stopped taking monthly photos. Aaron would say that I have way too many photos of her, but looking back it was worth it in the end. She is the reason I started getting into photography. We love taking photos, and now she has shown interest in taking photos too. One day I hope to make a collage of all her photos and make a long video of her growing through the years. For now I will share a few photos of her through out this blog post.

We are so blessed to have Lily. She is my mini me, and is me through and through. She has some physical features of Aaron and some of his amazing characteristics. She has a sweet side to her that I wish I could harness and keep forever.
She loves with all her heart and makes friends so easily. She loves animals. Her favorite thing right now is all creative things like drawing, journaling, piano, reading, and writing. She has hair that has never been cut before. One day I do need to trim her hair, and she is dreading that day. She got saved when she was 4 years old. It was amazing to know that she knew Jesus Christ as her Savior.
She loves her 3 siblings so much. She has become like a little mama to them all. Sometimes a little too much. Haha! She has helped me learn so much as a parent. I am so thankful that she has helped me through the good times and the bad times. She sometimes acts like my assistant, which I think is so cute. She has been there for me when I felt like no one else was there for me besides Aaron & our other kids. I am in awe of how much she has grown. She has grown up too fast.

Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
I pray that one day she will meet an amazing godly man that will treat her with the upmost respect and give her everything she deserves. She will definitely not be dating any time soon though. Her daddy is very protective of her. He wants to keep her focused on the Lord and help her grow spiritually before anything else. I pray that this year is amazing for her and that she enjoys her time as a 10 year old. This age and time period is tough for girls emotionally & physically. So I am trying my best to show her the way and guide her through every step in life. She is a wonderful soul winner, and I pray she continues to be a great one when as she gets older.
Every child we have is a blessing to Aaron and me. We are so thankful that the Lord allowed us to be parents to Lily. Count your blessings every day and remember not to sweat the small stuff. Children grow up so fast and soon become independent. Cherish the moments while you can when they're young. Remember to be in the moment. The Lord is so good to us.
I will close with a few thoughts. Right now life may be tough, life may be exhausting, you may have a lot on your plate, but we as parents have the Lord to thank for everything we have. Today was that day I chose to really think about how blessed we are to have Lily. She changed me into who I am today. I am thankful to be her mother.
Hug your children today and set aside some time this week to spend one on one with them. I bet it will make them so happy. And if you don't have children, spend time with family or nieces & nephews. There is always a child that could use some company. It will brighten up your day to see a child smile & laugh. We all need that sometimes.

Happy 10th birthday, Lily! We love you!
Love,
Mommy, Daddy, Seth, Jude, & Phebe
